Quick thoughts:

A shrewed move to get more people interested in DS as well as give reluctant content creators a chance to try it out for free.  Likewise people who were averse to gene might be willing to try everything out at a free price.  Gene needs support and sales so I think this is a reasonable gamble for DAZ.
