You could upgrade to Poser 9 or sidegrade to Poser Pro 2012. Pro 2012 is technically a more "fully-featured" version of Poser 9. They both report the same version number, differentiated by whether the program is the Pro or non-Pro version.
Poser 9 is definitely better than Poser 8 and is a worthwhile upgrade. Poser Pro 2012 is even better than that. If you can afford it, I would advise jumping to Pro 2012.
