Make sure you are looking in Poser Formats>Folder you installed to for the content, in the Content Library pane (not Smart Content, unless the item came with metadata and you allowed it to be added to the database the first time you started DS after installing the content). That actually answers both of your questions, though DS reads only limited settings (essentially, the things supported by Poser Pro Pack) and skips the shader tree entirely.
