I have a seat of LW9.6 as well along with the External Kray render engine.
I rarely even open it these days but its still a powerful VFX& animation workhorse when you really learn is full capabilities.
I assume you seen the demo videos of Lightwave 11??

but alas who can afford to keep up anymore.
