Nice image and I think you can represent 'Him' anyway you want.  For my two cents, Romans at the time wore their hair short and DID shave.  Palestine was a province of Rome ... just sayin'.

I do believe the character is a composite of many and various characters, a 'hero of a thousand faces'.  As a form of art or symbol, I find the subject absolutely worthy.  Good work on the image.  Very nice.
