Subject: March Photography Forum Challenge
Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.
This particular lake is a crater lake called Seven Star Lakes. Each of the seven lakes has a boulder which split upon entry to the earths atmosphere. The boulder was a part of the comet which struck the earth and set it on its axis, leaving a boiling caldera in the north pole. The rock split into seven pieces and left seven impact craters which soon filled with water. What remained of that comet is now called Planet Mercury.
About 1,200 years ago, locals dug canals between the lakes so as to interconnect them. They reason for calling them Seven Stars Lakes, is naturally, because a star came to earth leaving these rocks and lakes in its wake.

We took a drive down to Mercer Island one day last week and drove around looking for interesting architecture and fun things to do. Well ... we found fun things to do! I wasn't so wild about the architecture.
BUT! It's a challenge, so here's what I saw. These are very expensive apartment buildings in a very chi-chi neighborhood of Seattle. (Mercer Island is in the middle of Lake Washington.)

Hi Tara, your two photo's really are so different from any houses I've ever seen. Also the POV looks interesting to me.
In a way the houses/apartments looks uninhabited.
I think most of the apartments are occupied, Jacomina, but of course I don't know which ones! LOL! It's a very strange neighborhood. I'm glad it's different from what you've seen! To me, that makes it more worthwhile, that I can show you something new. :)

I translated a bit information into english, hope it is well.
When I go to the city (by bike) which is the closed to do shopping, it's only about 10 minutes biking from our home.
The building was founded in 1699 by Princess Maria-Dorothea Dietrich von Stein von Salm (1667-1732), Countess of Geleen and Amstenrade. She wanted to be a military hospital (lazerij 'or leper house) to establish infectious patients to leave nursing. One part was a chapel dedicated to St. Lazarus. The building was the foundation is not meant to be safe. This is reflected in the fact that the safe (even then) was not isolated, but at a crossroads, which in those days was the designated location for an inn. Also misses the vault until the day the usual garden. Still got all the suspected military hospital during the life of the contract giver this special purpose. Thus, the safe in Schaelsberg in 1688 was commissioned by Count Gerard of Cartiels Hoen, the then lord of Castle Schaloen, reportedly in gratitude that he had escaped drowning. The Countess of Geleen may also have followed this example, probably a similar reason.
It has also a relation with that castle Schaloen, from wich I posted several photo's on my gallery.

That's weird, I posted a comment but had not seen the pictures on page 4. So admirable and surprising special. Very impressive also.Then I almost dare not to put this tiny little chapel, which is here in the woods.
Who wants, can burn a candle here, and do a prayer. It is a chapel in honor of Mary.
In Limburg, several of these are often randomly at an intersection or on a trail.
