personally I see Mec4D's render on that page having more consistent colors and softer lighting (inner ear, lip color, less reddish skin glow).
The Reality render says: "The lighting is just two meshlight, one at the top and one in front, my curved light. ... and I applied also the Film Response curve to emulate the Agfacolor HDC 100 Plu film. " That might make a lot of differences, don't "blame' Reality or LuxRender too soon. I guess one can make a result like mec4D's and BB's using a decent skydome and Pose2Lux => LuxRender.
The good news as shown by BB is that we hardly need to depart from Poser itself to get good results out. That's encouraging, thanks for that.

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.
