It looks like you're using an older version of the script.  The versions currently posted at the link in my sigline are updated to work with the version of Python used by Poser 9 and Poser Pro 2012.

With respect to the chain posing script, it was intended to be able to be used with any chain, and I did test it with various chains not generated by the chain maker script.  However, not all chains will necessarily work, and the script itself can still encounter errors when posing the base link. 

As noted on the download page, "To qualify, all actors must have joints which are oriented in the same direction.   Includes animation and basic dynamics.

This script is still WIP and can encounter errors when rotating the base link of the selected figure."

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
