Why would I suggest a third party image utility?  For the same reason I would suggest a third party zip utility like 7-Zip, they just work better and have more options then what is built in to Windows.  Going a little off topic but I have felt for a long time that MicroSoft should concentrate on the core elements of the OS.  Leave the add-ons like video plays, image programs and all the rest to other companies that have more experience in those areas.
