it wouldn't be a W7 cache.. PS uses a cache to store a history of what you did while working on something.. it's possible that, with the sudden shutdown, the info MAY not have been erased, as it normally would.. you would have to open the "black" file, then use history and see if the operations you did are still there. also.. one other thing.. do you have auto-save enabled? if so, it saved within five minutes of the power out. a further note... If PS is having trouble opening it, you might try The Gimp.. also, I will troll through SourceForge and see what they have for data recovery.. it's open source and free.
