From the pic it looks like you haven't set the ignore hands option on.
The other thing you can do with this is drop back into the Pose room, go to the frame where you added the pose and move the hand or in this case the thumb a little and then run the simulation again so that it doesn't cause the problem.
Other things you can do is use some Cloth Presets:-
Using these can provide better draping etc.
The above will run on PP2010 as I used them in it before going up to PP2012.
