O.K., maybe you already made the switch to Poser for content creation (I use both by the way), but in case you are still willing to give DS4 another try for this project:
From the looks of you thread (at second glance) you are trying to create a character prop, and it looks like your only hangup was how to finalize the work into a working character file.
Because DS4's new creation tools are completely different than it's predecessors, or Poser's, you will have to do things a little differently than before (if you have been creating content before).
First, did you create your skeleton via parametric (DS3/Poser) bones, or did you use the proprietary Triax Weghtmap system?
If you used Triax then the following might help you. I've never parametric rigged in DAZ Studio (any versions), so I am not sure of the correct saving procedure, but there are tutorials availabe for this.
In order to solidify your creation with the CCT's (for Triax rigging) you have to "save" (that's save, not export) your bone completed model under FileSave AsAssestsDSF Figure or Prop.
Mind you, I am going from memory (content creator myself), but I have not finished my first cup-o' coffee yet, so the noggin' is still a little hazy. That might not be the exact path, but you get the gist.
Instead of .cr2 for DS4 you are creating it's proprietary format .dsf. Once this is created and in your library you could probably export it out using the CR2 Exporter. But, and I am assuming again, you will probably need to change back to parametric rigging if you created this work with Triax Weighted rigging.
I hope this helps...
