Quote - Yea, I hope that they get this figured out soon... and not DAZ SOON! lol I did suggest to my contact that perhaps they should put back up the old forums but the contact noted that if they did they would spend inordinate amounts of time answering questions to concerns and complaints rather than working on what needed direct attention. So it's about being patient. At least we have 'Rosity's forums for the time being to post to! :-)
Thanks for the updates, RAM - much appreciated. I'm concerned because a lot of the non-functionality should have been completed and tested before the cutover started. The links to Zendesk and the complete database copy/setup at the very least. It doesn't take a lot of people; it takes a lot of planning AND a detailed checklist. And a fair bit of disk space - I still remember my last major SAP/Oracle upgrade. It wasn't when the DBA said he needed 3 terabytes of additional space for the second database image - we'd planned for that. It was when he said he also needed one terabyte for the temporary offloads - which hadn't been planned. (I was AIX/Storage/Backup-Recovery Admin). And I did have the disk in reserve (past experience). (Six people total involved in the two-week process that culminated in the 24-hour outage). As to bringing the old forums back - I agree with your contact. Bad idea. Better to leave the new ones read-only -- but put some updates out in them! I personally would prefer to see the "We're working on it" lizard page up until they've got the vast majority of the issues resolved even if it does screw up their cash flow.
