the point is, when a being doubles in size (=leghts etc), the muscles will quadruple in strength (it goes with the crosssection, a surface, so double-squared) but the weight will octuple (?) - a volume, so double to the third.

Therefore, the muscles need an additional growth in diameter 100 => 140% ( 8  over 4 = 2, and to grow a surface a factor 2 the diameter has to grow sqrt(2) = 1,42 ) to get the job done. Untill you realize that those extra muscles make extra weight as well, which requires more muscles until your figure ends up like a ball.

Nature has a way out: it starts shrinking other body parts. So you get thick muscled thighs but thin upper bodies, thin shins, long necks etc.

You also can say: what does it take to turn Vicky into a decent looking dwarf. Then you do the opposite.
