> Quote - I would like to say thanks for the help. However, I must admit that I am still very confused altho I was able to open the New Content Runtime Folder and drag the subfolders (i.e. character, pose, textures, etc.) into *appropriate* Daz Runtime folders (character, pose, textures, etc). And now I can direct Poser to those Daz content files and use the product, but the whole process seems complicated. (And I am not clear about what I would do if I did not already have Daz installed on my computer.) Is there a reason Poser content does not come with installers the same way content sold for and by Daz does? Previously in this forum someone posted a sheet titled: Where To Put (or find) Poser Files, which I copied and studied before posting my question, but it still assumes familiarity with Poser that Newbees lack. And for those of us who came to computers late in life, fussing around inside folders is downright scary. No telling what we'll screw up when we start moving files and folders about. > > As for Winrar, I am not familiar with this software and I will look into it, but I sense that the same problem still lurks for us Newbees: It is not readily apparent where the *appropriate* folders are in Poser, so we will still not know where to direct the folder(s) to. > > I don't mean to gripe. I realize the fault lies with my inexperience with computer file and folder structures. Truly, thanks for nudging me in the right direction.

Here is some help. First go through your runtime, I assume you render with poser? That does make a huge difference to how your files upload. DS puts them in a totally different place then files inside poser. When installing into poser, well how many files do you have, how many do you think you might buy in the future? That is why a lot of people use what is called an "OUTSIDE Runtime". This is where you create a folder with a tree hierarchy. See the SS for you that I use. As an example.  When installing, honestly you should not have to go into the runtime and shuffle files.

Now open the poser folder, look for any "loose" runtimes. Sometimes I have had a runtime load outside of the actual runtime folder in another file inside of poser. So check for misplaced runtimes first. If you find one then cut and paste it into the poser folder where the file called Runtime lives. It will ask if you want to replace the current one, just say yes, it only adds what is not in there to the original. If you do not find any loose runtimes in the files in the poser folder, THEN open your original runtime folder and look in each file in there.

The 3 main folders in your runtime are Geometries/Libraries/Textures. If you find any files called Runtime in any of those folders, do as I said with  loose runtimes from elsewhere, cut and paste into the main poser folder where the original runtime lives.

I suggest you get a free 30 day trial of Winrar (*link> http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-32-bit/3000-2250_4-10007677.html 32 bit or http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-64-bit/3000-2250_4-10965579.html 64 bit, both versions have a 30 day trial. And at $29.00 to buy it is a good investment.

Now as to where poser files go. Are you using both DS and Poser? If so select on the installer to download to a location of your choice first, save your poser versions in a seperate folder and then download the Daz Studio files to another folder that you create. Remember that Daz Studio lights and texture (*and others) files are completely different from their poser versions. So you want to keep them seperate for your sanities sake! ;)

If I was redundant I apologize. But I hope this helps. Nothing is more of a nightmare then trying to shuffle two different versions of the same product.
