Subject: Looking for a completely faceless "face" for P5 or higher

Gremalkyn ( ) posted Sat, 26 May 2012 at 2:36 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 2:58 AM

I have not found an image of what I want, but it is simply a "faceless" face with no details whatsoever - not even a hint of a nose, etc., and is not itself a mask or metallic robot, as I want it to have the skin tone and texture of the rest of the otherwise normal human body.

Imagine, if you will, drawing a human figure complete with hair, clothing, and props with the intention of drawing the face last, then not drawing the face.

Edit option timed out.  Something like this, but with a skin texture:

wanted to see if i could do it.

this is alyson, with no face.  was harder than it looks - theres a lot of mesh inside the mouth, eye sockets and nose.

That is pretty good.  I assume the skeletal structure prevents removing the nose completely or filling in the eye sockets, but I like that it can be done.  I would use such a figure for a "what's her face" forgettable character or a "faceless crowd" sort of shot.

at this point smoothing off the nose or filling in the eye sockets is pretty trivial.  the difficult part was pulling out the hollow inner head geometry and then blending it with the face.

it looks truly nightmarish with the alyson texture on it since her head is inside-out. id post a render but it would scar people for life...

Must have been what happened to your panda. o.o

It come to mind that I should say . . .

  1. Thank you for taking an interest in the subject and showing that it can be done with enough work and ability. :)

  2. My comment about the skeletal structure should not be taken by anyone as me thinking your efforts are insufficient, but rather, literally what I said - I assume the remaining shallow sockets and vestigial nose are due to the nature of the figure's skull and not because you stopped short of what I initally asked about.

Good work on the concept. :D

Probably a way simple option

if you have the skill then model the head shape and import it as a prop, or scale the poser sphere prop to get the desired shape, place it in the head place but, it is important, don't parent it to the head, select the head then go to object menu and select "Replace body part with prop" and that's it.

Thank you.  I forgot about "replace with prop." :)

I do not have anything other than Poser 5 (which will not run at present) & 7 (which will not load) so, if I adjusted the primitive sphere and replaced the head with it, how do I give it the skin texture?  I assume it would be done in the Materials Room, but I do not have any textures except the ones that came with the programs.

I will be switching from Vista to Win 7 after I speak with my ISP company tomorrow to make sure I can get back on the internet, so I want to take as many notes now as I can in case something goes wrong and I have to wait a few days to get hooked back up. :)
