Quote - WHERE IS ALL THE ORANGE COMING FROM?!
The orange comes from Florida, Charlie Brown :P No, seriously...let me jump right into the questions!
That was going to be the subject of my post if there was a place to put one- but anyways, Hello!
I really love this skin and have been using it to produce my first commercial character: Myranda. However I've run into a frustrating issue with the eyes, eyelashes, skin texture shadows and the subdermal mask texture after rendering in Poser 9. I am using the Pro skin version with raytracing and sss.
I'll do my best to address everything. Making your first commercial character is a huge undertaking and I know how horrid - and wonderful - it can be.The issue is that everything I listed above contains an amber/orange hue that I cannot get rid of. NONE of the texture files I've modified contain any orange, only purple; or in the case of the eyes, white. You can see the modifications in the attachments I've added below.
Right away, I know the issue you're having is with the shader. You see, the Pro shader is setup for a caucasian human - you see where I'm going with this, of course. It's going to take some manual(oh, don't make that face!) work with the nodes to change that orange hue to anything else.So my questions are:
- Why are the eyelashes orange by default? I have to go into the materials room and manually change the color to black. I would like the eyelashes to load black by default.
SimOne has light-red hair(in my head anyway. Her lashes match her eyebrows and pubic hair).
Best thing to do is just re-save the shader into your library how you'd like it setup. After all, its a merchant resource; don't feel bound by my setup. Believe me, I have about 20+ unreleased versions of SimOne with all sorts of variants.
Why do the eyes contain orange elements in them? I have to load eyes from a completely different model (ie Lanaya for V4) to make the orange in the eyes disappear.
This issue is most probably the shader itself. Best to manually adjust it to suit your needs, then resave this new shader to the library. Why are there orange/amber hues in the shadows of the texture map? I have no idea where this is coming from, as the lights I used were white only light.
Most likely culprit here is the made-for-caucasian shader system used in Pro. My guess right now is that the subdermal map might be over-powering your purple skinned elf. You can actually delete the subdermal map and it shouldn't cause much trouble to your setup.
- Why is the subdermal layers appearing orange still when light passes through my model's ear for example in the picture below? Why is there blue around her mouth and ears?
A two-parter!Okay, first is...the torso_mask is setup to make things a bit orange over the nipples, vagina, and ears(where there's lots of blood flow). I can do some screen shots about how to manipulate it if you'd like - just let me know!
Finally, Poser's SSS feature isn't perfect by far. The simple answer is: anything under the skin that can have its visibility turned needs to be turned off[not just transparent, just invisible in raytracing. Its an option in your properties tab]. For instance, the upper and lower jaw need to be set to invisible during render time or the SSS feature in Poser will make the skin above/around them a slight blue. That's our only fix for now until next version of Poser, maybe. I know I covered this top a bit more in this thread...its in here somewhere!Any insight and help that you can provide me would be sooo appreciated as this is THE best and premier merchant resource skin texture I have yet to see made. Other than my concerns, I want to say VERY excellent job on this project!
Thanks! I do try! I'm actually working on a puple elf chick for SimOne 4 or 5! Not even close to done though so smeh to that.
Thanks,
Greta
