Quote - > Quote - Sounds really interesting. I don't have ZBrush, and struggle with Sculptris even while just trying to learn. For some reason, I just can't get a smooth brush action in sculpting. Modeling, no problems - but scuplting and I just don't mesh somehow.
I've been enjoying playing with Sculptris... and this inspired me now to get ZBrush. I couldn't really afford it. But I got impatient... I will have to sell some of my other stuff now to cover the cost of it I guess. My wife has suggested the drumkit is the best candidate... I don't know why
I end up using mouse and pen tablet at the same time... he he. I have gotten out of practice with using a pen / pencil to draw with... although modelling with it is a different matter again really...
...good fun though. I think I'll get decent results out of it in due course. As someone who worked with charcoal and paper, then oil and canvas, in a previous life, I think I find it more intuitive, in some ways than tweaking vertices...
...although I've been quite enjoying that stuff too. I think an understanding of polygon modelling with more traditional modellers (I've been learning with Hexagon... and now Wings) is important to have. So I certainly won't neglect that...
Hexagon and Silo are my modellers of choice. Just personal preference - tried Blender and ran away bald on one side of my head after tearing my hair out.
With Sculptris, I can't get the pen on tablet + turn to get a smooth crease. Because the turn stops halfway through, the crease ends up with a crease inside a crease.
Practice, practice, practice.
