Quote - Sorry Cliff, no chance of me being in the contest over at DAZ, naughty people like me cannot post etc. Lol.
No problems you naughty, naughty person you! Actually most of the renders in the compo thread so far aren't entries, they're mostly just celebrations of using Genesis in Poser so far (to be fair, it hasn't been running long and it takes people time to come up with a good original render. At least, it takes me a lot of time!). I think more than a few people are stunned that Poser can do a pretty fine job with the figure, especially if given a little love.
I SHOULd probably emphasis again that all I've done is write a tut and a couple of python scripts - neither of which would have been possible without people like Rob at DAZ or the coders in Team Poser. Without their efforts at improving the co-operation between Poser and Genesis I wouldn't have been compelled to see if I could ease the workflow and improve on the results with minimum extra effort. So I think I've provided an important and useful brick, but it's presently at the top of a very large pyramid!
Quote - But, saying that, good luck and I still think it should have been in the Commons sticky section.
That would probably be my fault rather than DAZ's per se - I was fairly anxious to avoid starting another pithing contest between Studio and Poser users so I started the threads in the Poser and Commercial forums (I'm allowed commercial and one other, I believe) as I thought that would help to target those that would be most interested, and avoid annoying at least half of those who would be most incensed by this effort. However, if anyone wants to start an honest-to-goodness positive thread in The Commons about it I am powerless to stop them.
Want me to see if I can stretch the compo to include renders posted over here? I'm not sure who I'd have to co-ordinate with at Renderosity to see if that would be acceptable (I fear the compo is too close to publicity for it to fly, and as I say - I'd rather avoid ruffling any feathers that don't need to be ruffled). I haven't nailed down the specifics (ooh, must go and post an end date - I keep forgetting that!) but I'm getting DAZ to donate some Genesis "Pro" goodies as prizes (need to firm that up with them as to how much I can co... persude them to give up lol).
As you can see, I'm being just as businesslike as I usually am in my tut threads (at least I haven't called "marketing" by the more accurate term of "bs" yet). Oooh, I wonder if I can get some of the users to post their images over here? Let me think about how I might reword the compo rules to permit that.
Anyone who isn't too naughty to post at DAZ is free to tell me in the DAZ compo thread that it needs moving - I'm pretty sure they'll accomodate if it seems to be a useful enough idea. They've been quite positive and encouraging about the whole thing evey since I wrote the original basic version of the tut for my fellow DAZ PAs - I have a feeling that they want to gauge just how much genuine interest there is in Genesis from people who really DO want to use it in Poser. Rather than just me bleating on about how much I like Genesis but Studio 4, not as much!
Cheers,
Cliff
