Then go to Start/control panel and look for either an nVidia control panel icon, or something that's marked personalization, or screen resolution, or display settings.
This should let you set the display resolution. Move the slider to the right end, the highest resolution offered. The selection of resolutions available will depend on the combination of monitor and video card.
You might also want to use a better video cable; VGA is kind of low on the food chain. Use a DVI or HDMI if you have the cord and the ports to fit.
