I feel this is a lot of the issue. While it's unfortunately par for the course for there not to be documentation on a free product, it just seems mildly unprofessional not to have one when it costed money. While a lot of things will only be found out through trial and error, a good set of documents ought to reduce a lot of the basic questions and free up their customer service some. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" and all that.
