Quote - Yes, that product shows the mesh breaking. Just do a bit of bending of the legs and you will see the problem.

Rather than spend a whopping $7 on an item that I can't even see me getting to "free and clear" to play with (work seems to be piling on from every direction at the moment) I had a quick chat with Bobbie who has confirmed our rather general findings and commented on that item in particular. Stuff rigged a certain way (like that outfit) really relies heavily on DAZ Studio being part of the equation. DAZ have, in essence, done their best to take the existing complications out of rigging and provide a software solution instead. Unfortunately this breaks compatability somewhat and "the solution" is, in effect, to regroup the mesh and re-rig it specifically for Poser. A generic tutorial for THAT, to cover all clothing, is definately beyond the scope of what I'm doing at the moment - and deliberately so. There's a whole field between "point and click" and "content creator", and my tut is aimed at a line nearer to the former than the latter - I don't believe users should HAVE to do content creation work any more than I believe car drivers should HAVE to be mechanics. This means that, regrettably, some items simply will not work well.

My personal preference for skirts and dresses (and some other items) however remains dynamic :)

Quote - I have mixed feelings about the autofitting - on one hand it makes it very easy to create clothing, on the other hand you hand over control of the fitting to an automated script with little or no control (as far as I know). Each cloth behaves differently when bent so the autofit may have an undesired result. But I guess we should use dynamic clothing if we want that kind of control over draping.

Phew! - I've just cut 3 paragrphs because I was going off on a War And Peace style commentary on how Studio has affected content creation, and showing pity for my fellow creators. This will not do! The current situation is complex, in no small part because (with the Genesis platform at least) it's easier to create BASIC nicely conforming clothes (for Genesis Platform) than it's been possible to do previously.

{snip again}. I'm just too chatty today! software replacing a professional content creator's skills can only go so far - it still isn't actually as good as the real thing... and however well the .CR2 exporter (and other DS4 components) does/do... in some instances, it's going to take "the real thing" to get the clothing up to scratch. :(

Cheers,
