Thank you for the suggestion FyraNyanser, I appreciate it.  I'm doing a series of portraits for all our characters and the idea was to do them as if they came into a studio type setting for their portraits.  The background in this one is some heavy brocade drapes that I rendered along with the figure. I'll see if I can adjust the lighting on the next one to make him seem less cut out, though I do want that effect somewhat.
