This is a copy of the halter I show my Arab in. If you tell me which horse model you might use it on and, if you like, I'll fit it for you. eng

aha....you have good taste in horses :)

The best!

wohoo! just make morphs for each horse so you can use it on any/all of 'em ;)

ENGELKEN ( ) posted Wed, 05 September 2001 at 1:15 PM

It's a good idea, but it really is built for an Arabian face and wouldn't look well on Dork Horse or the charger. I am spending all my time these days working on Michael and haven't had time to dive in and fix that awful horse model with the undershot jaw, the crippled pasterns, the shallow brain pan and so on, but I should be playing with that when the other is done. It really needs to be redone in higher poly count...maybe Millennium Pony?

Hi! Sorry I didn't reply earlier - I've been out of town. I actually need it to go with an arabian head morph I did for the default P4 Horse. I can send it to you if you would like to make the halter fit it or I can probably make the halter morph to fit it myself. It looks ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! THANK you VERY much! Looks very much Like the halter I show my Arab Stallion in. He's 18 and just won the stallion class at a local show against a whole slew of younger stallions. Yeah we need a millenium horse - one with joints where a horse has joints and that bend properly. A higher poly count would be nice too but it's the joints that drive me crazy.

ENGELKEN: when you do find time to fix the Poser travelling Alpo show, could I entice you into using Ruminaja Ali for a model?? only teasing...computer graphics could never do him justice

movida ( ) posted Thu, 06 September 2001 at 1:52 PM

Daio: congratulations on the win, particularly against the kids s

Daio ( ) posted Thu, 06 September 2001 at 2:10 PM

Thank you. I was totally surprised. I didn't think my 'Grand Old Man' had that much of a chance but he's got great conformation and presence and I suppose that does count for something. He's always done well but this was the first time I'd shown him in halter in almost 6 years. Ruminaja Ali would be a great model but I'd like to See Huckleberry Bey or Kemosabi - two of my all time favs (other than my own stallion of course.)

Sheila Varian was born a breeder, I think s. Huck was one of my all time favorites also.

Sheila Varian definitely had the magic tough. Here's a recent, albeit not terribly good, pix of my stallion - WRR BlackGold (I didn't name him!) He's a Crabbet/Babson cross.

Oh my...a person after my own heart (Babson/Crabbet...the real Arabians s) You in the midwest? Anywhere around Joe Zoran?

Daio ( ) posted Thu, 06 September 2001 at 8:14 PM

Ohio - near Cleveland. As a 3 year old, Blacki beat out all the big name trainers in Novice Western Pleasure at the Buckeye. As a 6 year old, he qualified for the nationals in Western Pleasure but I couldn't afford to take him (I was a poor starving graduate student at the time.) Can you tell I'm proud of the big lug?

Step up to the podium and take a bow g I bet there aren't many people who can say that. I quit showing because of the abuse I saw (halter). Made me sick so now I have 4 retired (saved) Arabs who resemble buffalo but are happy. I live close enough to go to the Nationals every other year but haven't been lately. Got some real behind the scenes views.

Daio, he's absolutely beautiful! Congrats on the win. :o)

movida ( ) posted Fri, 07 September 2001 at 7:47 AM

Daio: all of us that want an extremely well done, accurate horse model for Poser should pitch in, find the best modeller we can, and buy it. I will

movida ( ) posted Fri, 07 September 2001 at 7:48 AM

Daio: BTW, do you have "front, side and top" views of Blacki? Could use him for the model.

movida ( ) posted Fri, 07 September 2001 at 7:50 AM

And also, EXTREME close ups of the head (can't get that wrong! g)

Daio ( ) posted Fri, 07 September 2001 at 9:53 AM

I'm sure he'd love to model - he's a huge ham. I've got lots of pix of him. Boxes and boxes of them. And if I don't have a parlicular shot, my digital camera and I can get it. The biggest problem will be figuring out what I did with those particular boxes (I just moved). Speaking about show abuses - I know what you mean, I was a drug testing tech for the AHSA while in college and I could tell you some real horror stories. It's not confined to Arabs by any means, or even to horses. In any competative event there will be the people with no ethics who will do anything to win. It can really be discoruaging for those of us who do it because we love horses and just plain enjoy showing whether we win or not.

Daio: I'm not good enough to do an animatable horse for Poser. I meant I'd be willing to pitch in and pay for it. I'm going to post a message over at highend3d just to get a feel for how much something like that would cost. Do you use any other 3d packages? I'm a Lighwave user myself. I suspect there are modellers who wouldn't mind the job and would sell the model to a "group" (i.e., 4 or 5 people pitching in and paying for it) with individual ownerships (everyone gets a model). I sure would if I wanted to do the job. I'll see what comes of it.
