Let me be as generic as possible to avoid overt political overtones. When you have a candidate, who by all conventional metrics should be down for the count and - that candidate still has a good chance of winning - what does that say about the competition?

The fact that DAZ has had the opportunity to try to salvage their mislaid plans speaks volumes. All the Great White Hope Vicky Killers have (IMO) come to what should have been expected - initial bursts of enthusiasm followed by lethargy. Yes, they're coming,more in the pipeline, great things to come, more matginally supported wunderkind. Genesis will only Balkanize the market more - one more choice. The only difference is that DAZ has a better record of supporting their figures with content. Now the new SM figures may turn the tables - history suggests not, but anything can happen. I think it is more likely that the days of one dominant figure are over - at least for the forseeable future. Pick one or two and spend all your money on them and hope that the rest of the market validates your choices. On the plus side, there will be more variety. On the minus side, there will be more variety. To me, the ultimate question is can Genesis deliver enough variety along with clothing fitting equal or better than the converters and testure sharing? The alternative is a multitude of less well supported figures along with converter plugins and hope for a remap to take existing textures or enough native textures. Open your wallets, cast your votes.
