Subject: Solution for Freak4 scaling problem in SR3

wimvdb ( ) posted Tue, 21 August 2012 at 3:25 PM · edited Wed, 11 December 2024 at 8:13 PM

The following is a fix for the shoulder/collar scale problem in Freak4 when the FreakScaleOn is enabled. This is directly from the Poser development team and in my tests this fix works. Be sure to follow the instructions in the correct order. Once done, you can save the corrected Freak4 to the library and the fix won't be necessary anymore. Thanks to Larry for providing the fix

OK, there is a workaround but it has to be done in the correct order.

  1. open up the freak,
  2. bring up the joint editor,
  3. select the chest,
  4. select the lCollar scale zone,
  5. press the button to fix mismatched scale zones, the problem corrects.
  6. select the rCollar actor
  7. select the chest smooth zone in the joint editor
  8. press the button to fix mismatched scale zone.

Due to internals on how the joints correct themselves, which actor that's selected makes a difference in the results.

For those who are unfamiliar with this fix mismatched scale zone button, here an image to show where it is:

Is that Poser 9 or Poser Pro 2012? Because my Joint Parameters window in P9 looks nothing like it; there is no button at all other than the Zero Rotations.

The button is new in SR3 - not sure if it is in Poser 9. I used PoserPro 2012

This button was implemented to solve some of the scaling issues which are new in SR3.

I'm using SR3 but nope, no button for me. Guess it must be a PP2012 only thing -- unless I somehow borked my install.

Let me get back to you on that.

I did not know, so I will ask
