This is an enlargement of my previous post, showing the red flecks in the hair (which I retouched out).

What causes this and is there a way to avoid them ?

Sadly the only way I figured out so far is to a) turn the glossiness way down or make it Matte. I think its also been recommended to play with the diffuse & specular settings. Its still very much a work in progress for me..
