I started working some detailed shaping morphs for [Nea 2](http://www.sharecg.com/v/46646/view/11/Poser/Nea-2.12)

which I guess will lead to Nea's 3 default face shape

I believe this time I push our beloved Posette's mesh to the limits

I try to use every single vertice available to make the look as smooth as possible

the areas that are reworked are eyelids and nostrils

both morphs are based on photo references

Dang! You moved a lot of polys to put more of them to use on the inner side of the eyes where posette's eye usually comes up short otherwise. The mesh flow on the face looks to be improved because of that and how you evened out the whole flow on the face. Beautiful work.

My brain is just a toy box filled with weird things

pitklad ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2012 at 2:12 AM

thanks for the responce!

Posette had many polys that where compresed or hiden on the inner eye area

I slided all those polygons out on the eyelids and redesigned them completely using every poly as good as possible! repositioned the lashes that also were re-desinged bigger and to accept better textures, also the lacrimal was designed completely with polygons that already were there but were used purelly

mylemonblue ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2012 at 2:36 AM

Looking at Nea 3 just made me re-learn and old lesson on how it's where you put the polys that counts. I've been told by more experienced 3D artists that some people make a mistake by just throwing more polys on models that don't need them. I think this shows that there is some trueth to that.

pitklad ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2012 at 2:53 AM

I will agree with you

It is incredible what can be done even with not too many polys IF the positioning is right

thanks **monkeycloud** it all has been done by hand on wings 3d, sliding vertices and moving points

maybee I'll have to make the nose bridge wider

like angelina's

monkeycloud ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2012 at 9:16 AM

Interesting that you're using Marquartdt's Golden Ratio based face mask there...

...a useful comparative tool, even if not going for "perfect" proportions, and instead adjusting according to taste etc.

Cool 😉

mylemonblue ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2012 at 9:16 AM

I think that's it. The nose bridge being wider might balance it all out. ^-^

monkeycloud ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2012 at 9:19 AM

Yup... definitely would agree with slightly widening the default nose bridge too...

Excellent! Your dedication to the Nea project is admirable... Nice that your doing all of this in Wings, too. Great app.

Looking forward to Nea 3.

pitklad ( ) posted Tue, 04 September 2012 at 5:08 AM

Actually it is combination of wings, poser magnets & poser morph tool

Nea 3 is still just a thought, it relies on my free time

Nea is a constant experiment and I've learned a lot making her

There is a lot of poser tecnology in her, body handles, alternative geometry and some tricks to make all that work. She was a motive to dig deep in poser files and figure setup and modelling too, eyes and teeth are original geometry

My dream is that Nea 3 would come with a weight mapped version too, but I don't have the courage to learn all this new stuff

primorge ( ) posted Tue, 04 September 2012 at 5:36 AM

Well, don't forget all of us dinosaurs that aren't using the latest version of Poser when Nea 3 does make her debut... perhaps WM and non WM versions. Although I could probably get The WM version to work in Carrara.

Kudos.

pitklad ( ) posted Tue, 04 September 2012 at 5:46 AM

She will definately come in two versions IF there will be a WM version anyway

At the current state Nea can use Posette clothes so not many changes have been done to her joints, and I don't plan to change the body shape

Nea 3 if she ever makes a debut will be a face reshape and maybe she will have a new original UVS

A question about Nea 2.12...

I have Version 2.12b that I downloaded from ShareCG... Is this installation compliant with RTencoderpy? I can only decode files that were created with version 1 RTencoder as I am on a mac and RTencoderpy is my only option.

thanks

pitklad ( ) posted Tue, 04 September 2012 at 6:31 AM

I believe that even if the RTEncoder program is other version the rte file format hasn't change it can be decoded with any version

I myself used the first version of RTencoder which should be older than RTEncoderPy

as for the version 2.12b it is mostly a correction to folder and maybe texture and minor character errors

Please let me know if you have any critics or suggestion for improvement when you install Nea

Thanks, pitklad.

Very nice!  I do hope that Nea 3 does come to be.  I enjoy Nea 2, oh, my thanks for commenting on my gallery image with  her over at RDNA.

pitklad ( ) posted Sun, 06 January 2013 at 3:00 AM

I also hope to find time to finish this project

There are dramatic changes on eyelids that I'm afraid will make all current eye morphs useless... nose is also quite different. Many morphs will need to be reworked and the UVS to avoid texture streching.

It is so rewarding to see Nea on a gallery, thanks for using her! And I also loved that you use alternative figures on your images this makes your gallery have a great variation and freshness!

Spectacular work! I hope you complete her. As long as there's a Poser, there should be a Posette.

Cool render JoePublic

Posette is a great base to start and most of all fun and easy to work with

@pitklad - So cool you are working on this. Looks great. Definately the wider nose tip and bridge is better I think. I find your approach using ratios is very interesting. Have you ever played with Blacksmith3D's HeadForge? I found playing with random asymetries very interesting.

@JoePublic - that is a beautiful face. Hard to beieve it is Posette. Fine work!

I hope all is well in life for you guys :)

Long time, no read, my friend.

How's it going in the great white north ?

momodot ( ) posted Mon, 07 January 2013 at 5:14 PM

all good here :)  same old thing mostly. pretty mild winter so far actually.

JoePublic ( ) posted Mon, 07 January 2013 at 5:26 PM

Same old, same old.

Pretty warm winter here, too, so far. Although last year it still got really, really cold in February.

Anyway, don't want to highjack Pitklad's thread.

I'm currently weightmapping David 3. Give me a call if you want to have a peek.

Mail is still the same.

:-)

I spread some polygon edges so that can be used better for morphing and to get a smoother look, taking advantage of the current resolution as much as possible

mostly in the space between the eyes and brows, also rolled some polygons from the back of sculp on the forehead

Thanks for sharing more of your progress on Nea 3. Looking good!

It really shows how good mesh flow can improve a figure. =)

pitklad ( ) posted Mon, 04 February 2013 at 2:34 PM

Next area for improvement will be the ears

Also I may rework the lower lips a bit more

It is hard to smooth the mesh without making the face structure look too undefined

so I rearange the edges on wings than brush with the poser morph tool for smooting at low settings and than rework the mesh in wings if needed

all test renders are made with poser smooth on since it is always needed for Nea's low resolution, so she is redesigned with this in mind
