Subject: Wishlist - Clothing for Miki 4

basicwiz ( ) posted Thu, 27 September 2012 at 12:50 PM · edited Wed, 26 February 2025 at 11:02 PM

Perhaps this will jiggle the elbows of some of the content developers... a list all in one place of the clothing items people are dreaming about for the new couple.

First off:

I would definately like undies for her. Bra and panties for openers would be wonderful.

Sa_raneth ( ) posted Thu, 27 September 2012 at 1:16 PM

a Bikini would help and some dresses

bagoas ( ) posted Thu, 27 September 2012 at 2:15 PM

Could you guys be more specific? You seek contemporary or period, everyday or fashion, prude or OhLaLa, SuperCheap or Prada? An image says a lot.

Technically you seek conforming, dynamic, hybrid or other?

Product wise you seek elaborate textures suitable for close-up large size rendering or something more economic with resources for group shots?

Sa_raneth ( ) posted Thu, 27 September 2012 at 2:19 PM

dresses should be dynamic  Bikini can be conforming sexy  or everyday

Snarlygribbly ( ) posted Thu, 27 September 2012 at 3:00 PM

I'd like to see clothes that have some connection with her apparent ethnicity.

Kimono (dynamic)

Sherwani (conforming)

Bamboo hat (smart prop)

Slippers / geta (smart props)

Sa_raneth ( ) posted Thu, 27 September 2012 at 3:14 PM

yea i didnt think of them

monkeycloud ( ) posted Thu, 27 September 2012 at 3:32 PM

Yes, I also second Snarly's suggestions...

High quality, suitable for close ups, and realism.

Otherwise, I'd like a UK policewoman's outfit...

...like the one below, but perhaps with a more realistic trouser option as well as the miniskirt?

Specific enough? 😄

nobodyinparticular ( ) posted Thu, 27 September 2012 at 3:47 PM

Already got the top of my wishlist from Wardrobe Wizard, since it is something not high on the demand list. monkeycloud, I agree on the Constable outfit. Many Canadian cities use uniforms similar to that.

Hello Mr. Snarly,

A dynamic Kimono will not be that difficult. It has been on my projects list for a while. I have a real life one here at home, which can serve for texture and pattern. Something like this:

Seen her American-asian background, not the full thing with Obi and the lot, but just the 'dress' with a simple belt will do I presume?

The sherwani I had to look up. Wikipedia came up with the following:

I hope it is what you mean. Seems more a man's garb, but it can be feminized of course. I am not sure if conforming is the best approach for this one. With the length of the thing, and the stiff embroided fabric, dynamic or hybrid be preferred choice. I see no way to realistically work with the lower panels.

High fashion!

Courture!

Everyday!

I don't want any more skimpy stuff, other than maybe a bikini. I would love some really cool dresses like the ones you see on the runway and some courture clothing with everyday stuff tied into them, like the "hello kitty" line or the dresses made out of candy... And most important, stuff she could wear to school, college, work, out on the town at night, etc... And last but not least, same as for Tyler, some combat or work boots!

I prefer both options, dynamic and conforming, and maybe even a hybrid version.

I think OOT, fabiana, Powerage and a few others have the exact type of fashion sense I'm talking about. ;)

in my above post should have been followed by:

Well, I have absolutely no experience at all with making clothes so if dynamic is the way to go I'm happy with that!

Here is a girly sherwani along the lines of what I meant, but maybe that's not the proper name for it.

The issue with clothing is of course that if you hide the body, all the work on the correct bending of the body is in vain. So, if the clothing you seek only show the face and the hands of a figure, you can also take those and graft them as appendages to a clothing figure you like. Specific clothing for a figure only makes sense if the body, which makes the figure, is shown, either bare or in tranaparancy.

The predominance of little 'thingies' and lingerie in the Poser figure wardrobe is therefore rational and functional. Poserdom would for example need only one single bhurka figure, with maybe some scaling, to serve all needs, unless users would want to express different styles of bhurka of course.

The bottom line of this post: if anyone (or Smith micro) could provide a conforming neck-and-head-only figure, this could probably give a lot of versatility to Miki. Users can then use the clothing as the main figure, and conform the neck and head to that. It would give the users freedom to keep consistency of figure in a series of images while having free roam in the wardrobes of other figures. The face and hair style, main points of recognition of the figure, would be consistent. That the body parts (if any) inside the closed and opaque clothing are not Miki's does not matter because it is invisible anyway. A set of poses to scale body parts of clothing made for other figures (the Vicrorias, the G2 series) to Miki would be helpful also.
Just a supplementary way to achieve a wider base of support for Miki and to call in people who are not directly involved in making clothing.

Edited to bring line of thought, I hope, out more clearly.

Ha, a good smile.

Teyon builds the most beautifull body, and the first thing you boys and girls are trying to do is cover it up. :-)
Sorry, it just made me smile.

Teyon? You know what to do with your next builds.

A nice Head
A nice Neck
The chest can be a simple box
The abdomen can be a simple box
The hip can be two boxes.

Just continue down with a nice langing gear. :-) :-) :-)

Ha-ha-ha-

Clothing for such a great body has to show at least some sensuality.
Let her show that she is proud of what Teyon did with her poly's.

Sensual every day clothing.
Thank you.

Well, Vilters, not even boxes would be required for body parts permanently covered with conforming clothing. Low-poly 'moniker' representations acting as a former for dynamic clothing would be great though to speed up cloth simulation.

Despite of being quite covering I like the idea of dynamic kimono and sherwani because they can be opened, be blown aside, hang down when she leans over, be dropped semi-carelessly etc. in posing and reveal parts of Teyon's masterpiece.

I know this thread says "clothing" but can I also put in a request for textures? It seems all my poser native people at least for the last several versions have only the skin they came with and I don't see much choice to change that.

Hi RedPhantom,

Miki4 shares the UV mapping and material definitions of Miki3, and therefore accepts all those.

Tip 1: CP had a few textures for Miki3 in the First Friday Bazar.

Tip 2: You can tweak skin color etc. with the HSV node the texture is connected to.

Idea: There have been requests was for undies. If these are not intended as a 'main feature' but just something to make sure we do not see her bare privates if the wind accidentaly blows her skirt, or to make her look decent to anyone looking over the shoulder while posing her, I think a 'second skin', as overlay in the shader would qualify under 'clothing' and therefore be well within the scope of the thread.

I think a new, improved range of skin textures would be a major boost.

Look at the Oxygen texture sets at rdna perhaps...? Not an extensive ethnic range I don't think there... yet...?? But on a production quality basis I mean.

I'm thinking of some good high end base textures, with proper bump / displacement / specular maps?

There is some scope in the HSV node... but different skin types differ by more than just color hue, don't they?

Merchant Resource packs covering a range of skin types, made to current quality standards, SSS and IDL friendly diffuse maps etc, would be a major boost I think?

monkeycloud ( ) posted Fri, 28 September 2012 at 1:11 PM

Basically, I'd love it if Miki4 could play anything from a pale skinned, freckled, ginger haired lass, through to a dark skinned Afro-Caribbean.

I don't think she's limited in those roles in terms of how she could be morphed, as much as how she could be textured... in terms of what textures are available in the marketplace?

meatSim ( ) posted Fri, 28 September 2012 at 1:14 PM

Syd did a Sao Sky texture for miki 3 didn't she?... That would likely work well with SSS shaders on Miki 4

Yes she did... and I believe it would work.

But I guess what I'm hoping for is the range of skin types and those being merchant resource packs... as I was saying in the Tyler clothing thread... equally OT I guess, since we should really be discussing clothing... I think MR skin texture packs would help kick start people making a bigger range of character products for these figures?

I am working on something for her since I just downloaded and installed her this evening. It will cover but still be sensual... but not an everyday item (though once you see it, there may be an argument that it was an everyday item a long time ago).

I am not going to let the cat out of the bag just yet, in case I can't pull it off.

But it will be in the freebies section and will be dynamic. I am not that good at rigging, especially WM rigging, just yet.

I'd really like to see simple everyday stuff, like dynamic comfy shirts and clothes to compliment the new wm'd Miki. TBH I don't think I've seen a good pair of sweat pants for a SM figure that I didn't have to convert from something made for V4.

I think I found what you were trying to post. It's more Hindu than Asian, but I guess it could work on her...

Ok. The hat. This is my initial model. I am still going to work on the texturing. Right now it's a smart prop. I don't know how to rig a hat, and I wouldn't if I could. There are different styles of these hats depending on where in Asian you go. Just this year I have been in Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Korea, Japan and Indonesia. I even had one of my own there for a bit. I don't like the bell shaped ones in China, and I am not fond of the type that you can tie to your head, so  I did this one.

What do you think? Redo the texture and it will pass muster?
