Quote - Omg.. SBT if you're out there.. wtf have I done to my poor pc.. starting another tropical isle type render with Vue to use as an ibl.  8000x4000 @ 300dpi.  16hrs estimated to render.  I know it's not much in our world of Luxrender... but I feel as though this is an eternity for Vue

8kx4k is pretty damn huge! And at 300dpi, 16 hours seems pretty reasonable.

I know a lot of standard 'photo' (ie digital photo) IBL's come in that size, but I've always wondered why. At the moment, I just presumed it was because either that's what a Mega megapixel camera shoots, or maybe its just the default size. ;-/

It really depends on what's in your sky too. I had one at 28xxx14xx only take 3 hours, then one at the usual size go for 23 hours, and it was half as complex!

Not sure what all goes on inside Vue, but its random as all get-out. (And still crash-o-matic in the new version! Took me a full day to export a simple terrain without crashes!!!)
