Sunset Beach - No Lens Glare Version(with extra corrected hdr file)

Sharkbytes...these HDR's, do I apply them to the Reality IBL sphere before launching Reality, or in the lighting section of Reality...? I usualy use the HDR.envr file of any IBL or HDR I download, and insert it to the IBL box in the lighting section of Reality before launching Lux.....

Put them in the lighting section of reality.  I included jpg's so you could set the scene up with the ibl sphere while you're still in studio.

They're not that spectacular Stevie..  I'm just starting out with Vue; so, the skill level is rather low.  If it's like other stuff I've done in the past, eventually I'll be able to produce a product that I feel is good enough to share with the world at large; not just a group of folks who's ridicule I can handle.  :-)

Quick question why cant metal items be batch converted? For example if I pick multiple surfaces to covert to metal only the 1st one selected will actually convert.

Doctorjellybean ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2012 at 11:18 AM

They'll all convert, but to change the metal type from the default to something else, you need to reselect the metal mats.

I am pretty sure thuis happens when I also select to keep the original surface as well only the 1st surface will convert and all has to be done one by one

I am trying the refine pen. I have selected the noisy areas highlited them and applied importance pen. I dont see anything in my log that reflects this being done. What am I missing how does one know how much pen strength to add and why one would subtract the pen?

my method on my previous pic was...

select importance pen, cranked the sliders to half (cause I don't know any better), draw the areas to take importance (the picture frame), click apply.

The results did show fairly quickly, the original render I ran I stopped because the main image was nice and clean but the picture was so noisy you could hardly see the image, re-ran it using the method above and the picture cleared up much quicker than the rest of the image.

I'd guess the subtract pen is to lower the importance of parts, for example if you have part of an image that is not going to improve with further passes, you can tell lux to leave that part and concentrate on the rest of the scene.

Hth,

Abi.

Thanks *I think* its working I just find it odd that it wil not reflect in ones log ( as sen below)... I picked all the areas due to having water & glass you know how it is....

Reggie68 ( ) posted Sat, 03 November 2012 at 10:10 AM

Try changing the log level setting to get more information.

You could also use the "noise aware" functions but they need manual editing of the lxs file.

bobvan ( ) posted Sat, 03 November 2012 at 10:11 AM · edited Sat, 03 November 2012 at 10:15 AM

Log level?? Its does seem to be helping I am guessing this just gets Lux concentrating on those areas?

Reggie68 ( ) posted Sat, 03 November 2012 at 10:15 AM

In the pic you posted, top left there is a button which says Log Level and is set to Info.

Set it to Debug and it will display a lot more info in the log.

bobvan ( ) posted Sat, 03 November 2012 at 10:23 AM
