Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
Reading a manual that is 800 pages means that I'm in learning mode over the period of 30-45 days which I'm not. I could use the search feature in Adobe but I tried that before making this post and the word specular comes up a 1000 times.
So I thought if I just asked here someone may see the post and know the answer right off the bat. Then I figured some other people may be curious about how to do this. So it's a win/win. Chances are out of all people who have viewed this post, maybe 15% of them didn't know how to do this as well and they've learned.
Best thing to do in life? Ask, collaborate.
On a side note, I could of googled better, there is an article that explains this simple thing hehe.
One more thought. ***You want your forum to have questions like these phrased in different ways, then when google crawls this knowledge base people will find renderosity.com easier since they'll find the answer to their questions. From an SEO standpoint you want people to ask these questions as much as possible in VARIED ways. YOU WANT THE SAME QUESTION TO BE ASKED IN TEN DIFFERENT WAYS.
But renderosity has kept the forum closed off from the public. Chances are they don't want to make too much money. It makes sense since their marketplace item browser is complete garbage. I think they want the DAZ store to succeed. Even DAZ knows the importance of opening up their forum to google.
QUICK SUMMARY: From a money making standpoint, you want people to use the manual less and this website more.
Well, there is the manual.
SM provided us with one of the best manuals in 3D ever.
AND there is a search function in the forums here. Realy? YES there is. :-)
But I know,
Only small children read manauls.
And it is hard to admit being a child.
Far better to post and cry.
Did I forget the shouting part?
Oh !

Let's stick with facts. Do a search right now and search for "specular light" or "specular lighting". I rest my case.
Ok, Facts.
Here it is : seach for specular light

The title doesn't match what I was looking for: Very Low Light Level Scenes with IDL and Gamma Correction
Hey, I don't want to be a dick. Google search features have spoiled me, so when I use a forum search engine it sucks. You realize I rarely use forum search features. I always search the site with google.
Quote - ok.... can I get a popcorn and a hotdog, large diet coke? I like to eat when ppl are having a dickwaving flamewar.... please.. continue the entertainment or grow up and stop pressing each others buttons or over reacting and lets talk about the original post.
I'm not, I'm just revealing what I've learned to help push limits. I work in SEO so it pains me to see things like this.

Is there a way to make a light that only affects the specular in the scene and doesn't touch the diffuse?
I don't know what it is, but it's hard to balance and find a workflow for IDL & SSS lighting and specular. There doesn't seem to be any set rules.
