Quote - yup, it looks like a broken geometry rather than a texture issue.

I believe you can use blender tio load DAE files and export 3ds.

Poser does not like n-gons with concave bits or long thin polygons. The smoothing in Poser causes some defects. 

Can you post a link to that effects pedal ?  It might not be hard to fix in a modeller.
