As an American who lives in Germany, I just want to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to all of those here in Europe who have shown so much compassion and solidarity with my native land during this last terrible week. All of the candles, the flowers, the church services and the moments of respectful silence have certainly reassured me that there is goodness left in the world. To those of you back at home in the U.S.A., please try to take some comfort from the huge outpouring of support we have received from our friends across the sea.
