Can you please list any shortcuts in poser that you know of? Briefly describe what each shortcut is used for.

I am new to poser and I am trying to figure out how to work with it. Knowing the shortcuts can give me a good start.

What version of Poser are you using ?

Have you read the manual ?

There are tons of video tutorials here. These are for Poser 7 but mostly still apply.

I am using Poser 8. I have not read the manual because I don't have the time to get through it right now. So, I am trying to find some information that is more narrowed down.

Yes, It is a pain in the ; ; ; when someone says that, but realy, it is the ONLY valuable solution in the long run.

Poser and everything that goes with it takes time.
I do not talk days here, I do not talk weeks either.
More like months, and even years.

Those that say they "mastered" Poser in a year, well, good luck to them.

Some of us have been doing this from Poser1 more then 15 years ago, and still discover new ways and procedures.

Ctrl+R = Render

Ctrl+X = Delete whatever figure or object you want

I have not tried it yet, but it looks useful, so I downloaded the pdf. 

holding shift key down when moving a body part.  stops other parts being selected.

My python scripts such as advanced library manager and advanced figure manager from runtimedna.  these ones really speed things up.

buying a newer version of poser which works in 64 bit on your computer (presuming you ahve a 64 bit computer)

well so first get poser pro 2012 then get the library manager (which is on sale at the moment for 50% off) sadly PP 2012 is probably not on sale.

Python is a programing language that can be used to write extensions to Poser to perform various tasks. The Python functions specific to Poser are detailed in the PoserPython Methods Reference Manual, which should be in the Poser directory as a pdf. 

The Python scripts in the Scripts Menu include some very useful ones, such as Partners>Dimension 3D>Render Firefly, which allows you to set and save custom render settings, such as for draft and final renders.

While they are fairly easy to use, writing python scripts requires a pretty thorough knowledge of Poser, so you will likely need to gain some experience, unless you happen to already be knowledgeable about Python...

How can I install these python scripts into poser? I downloaded one of them from the website. I unzipped it and all I see inside the folder is a .py file and a .txt file. What am I supposed to do with them? 

the first paragraph of the ockhams read me says " If you're completely new to Python, I suggest that you should first     download, or view on the Web, my one-picture basic introduction to     using Python in Poser: "

seriously, i think you should, being told how to do something is no substitute for learning how to yourself........... not trying to be an ass here, but really it will help you in the future if you understand the directory structure :)

to explain further, many of us have been using poser in its many incarnations for years, it has a learning curve, it isn't click and done, it requires patience and study like any software, yes the forums are full of questions and full of answers, some correct ,some incorrect, some case specific, i've asked many questions in here and recieved some marvellous help, but........you will gain respect and help far quicker if you post " i've downloaded the script, read the read me file, i've put the script in the folder recommended and when i try to open it ??????????? etc etc" without which the natural progression is, I tell you where to unzip it to and your next questions are how do I load it and what does it do................... just my tuppence worth

I'm not familiar with how the program works. Before I asked this question, I downloaded one of the python scripts. I thought it would be a type of file that I would have to place in a poser folder. It turned out to be just text. I started reading it and found it confusing.

I guess I will do my own research and look more into it when I have the time.

If you go to File>Run Python Script and browse to were the script is it can be run .  You then can copy it to runtime/python/poserscripts/scriptsmenu in your Poser program directory if it turns out to be a useful script that you will run often, and it will show up on the Scripts menu after restarting Poser...
