3Delight is just as "high-end" a renderer as Lux, or V-ray, or Mental Ray, or whatever. Happy Feet 2 and District 9 were rendered in 3Delight.

 

I think that may be the commercial version of 3Delight unlike what is included with DS but I have managed to get decent renders prior to using Lux I just like the results I get

I have to agree with Paolo Reality makes it simple...

 

Having said that its nice to have both. For example the 3Delight render I posted a link to a few posts back took 10 minutes vs the 16 hours it probably would of needed due to all the convert to light which is one of the items that really add time to a lux render..
