IE has nothing to do with the material room. It's the library that uses an IE component.
And it doesn't use your whole browser or make you use it for your browser. It is (or was at the time) the only reliable way to use an HTML/HTTP UI to host the library component.
On the Mac, it's running a piece of Safari to do the same.
While it's great that you're into picking which browser you use and snearing at the one you don't, the issue isn't about which browser you use. It's about a library component that should be part of the operating system or the .net library, but instead is packaged as part of IE.
In case you must know why - it was done to so that a single implementation of the library component would work on every platform and every SM graphics product.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
