Quote - ... Robyn, I’m more interested in the UI, so its nice to see more on improvements at a lower level. Hopefully, you’ll get the tools you need. Having the ability to create shader objects (with inheritance maybe) would be a great boon to creators. There’s nothing wrong with the node based approach – it’s popular.

Running with your idea... the node-group/node-object concept would lend itself beautifully to your improved UI idea. Indeed, I really think a proper library (EZSkin and other core materials could all make up this library) where the exposed end - the Simple Material Room bit - could be a few tickboxes that, say for skin, could give you freckles or change the skin tone or add water droplets or-or-or... the interface would "expose" a core library node set that would be instanced by a drop-down selection. Saves a lot of re-inventing the wheel.

And users could come up with their own libraries/objects, which they or their customers would interact with through that same interface.

Sure, this might require a bit of a re-write of the mat room, though. I'm in process of learning C++ and (subsequently) Qt4, but I doubt I'll be at a point where I can contribute to the code base before Poser 2045...
