I am trying to render a figure in PP2012. But when the render is finished the figure is blurry.

I have no idea how to fix it. I am not sure if it is a setting in my render setting or something else.

I would really appreciate it if somone can help me

how about posting your render settings ?

Hello Magnolia

Try the following:

Goto Display,(on the top menu)
Go Down to Guides
Select Focus Distance Guide

A X will come visible on your screen.
In the Parameters palette select your camera=> Usually your main camera you are rendering with.

Turn the dial focus_Distance to get your X (you will see it going in and coming out when you turn the dial)

Turn that dial to get the object you want to focus on in focus. just like the old manual focus dial on an old camera.
Render.

If this does not help?
What was the MSR you where rendering with?

I will try each of these suggestions. And I am attaching my render setting as well.

Thank you all for  your suggestions.

This is driving me nuts because it is also making my figure have that plastic look which I hate.

Regards

Your "Min shading rate" is too high, try it at 1.0.

markschum ( ) posted Tue, 12 February 2013 at 10:01 AM

I thought min shading rate should be less than 1. I think I use 0.2.

Ok, thanks for posting the render settings

All is good but???? You hear me coming??
Irr. Catching is rather high, set at 32 for starters
Indirect Light Quality is also on the hi side; reduce to 50
Pxel samples can be 3-4-5, take it to 10 but 29 is extremely hi

Min Shading Rate => There is your problem

For very clear and sharp pictures set it at 0.2
(and set Post filter size at 3 on sync, not on box)

For draft renders, but still OK, set MSR at 1

Fast and OK rendering?
Raytrace bounces at 1
Irr catching, set at 0 (yes zero)
Indirect Light quality set at 7
Pixel samples at 3
MSR at 1
Post filter size at 3 on Sync

Happy posering
Tony

I'd also think, that the "Post FilterType" set to "box", perhaps is the culprit here (blurry result). Set to "sinc" with the value set to "2" or "3" can produce clear renders already (with depth of field set properly or turned off)

The manual does contain tips on render setting values with explanations.
