Hello Magnolia

Try the following:

Goto Display,(on the top menu)
Go Down to Guides
Select Focus Distance Guide

A X will come visible on your screen.
In the Parameters palette select your camera=> Usually your main camera you are rendering with.

Turn the dial focus_Distance to get your X (you will see it going in and coming out when you turn the dial)

Turn that dial to get the object you want to focus on in focus. just like the old manual focus dial on an old camera.
Render.
