It would be straight forward of course, if I didn't want the moving parts.

But I think they'd be cool to have...

...I'm sure there's some trick to lining up joint centres that I've yet to discover. Hopefully I'll discover it soon!

I'm off to re-read a few rigging tutorials... :)
