Actually, I stumbled onto MAT poses because there was no materials folder. You had to set up each material manually (no copy/paste either) - this was in the days of Poser 3. There was no materials library until Poser 5.

And I actually prefer the materials folder, now that it exists, since MAT poses have a bad habit of silently adding extra material zones if you accidentally have the wrong item selected.

 

tl;dr: I invented MAT poses, but please stop using them, and use MT5/MC6 instead :)
