i like how she came out, and i think i like the background... but i dunno.. i feel like it's not quite done. like something's missing just not sure what it is... any thoughts? do you think i should leave her as is?

there is no light or glint in the eyes and to me that is the real draw

the model looks to be rendered without the background as an emiter

but all pretty women need some slight dancing light in the eyes

Context.

Would make a great character banner for an animated film . . .

or just a good title. :)

Like all curly trans-mapped hair, it looks atrocious at the ends. All those squiggles and little hairs going in mad directions. A dark/er background could hide that, or perhaps a different hair.

Something on the left.  A butterfly?

I think you may need to change you lighting...she looks a tiny bit flat ;).

It needs a Dalek or two in there.  ;)

I agree with the lighting. It's one of the traps when you use a background image that is photoshopped in. She needs to be backlit just a bit.

And the sheen in her eyes...

If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

Highlights in the eyes perhaps? And a Dalek or two!

Agree on the reflections in the eyes.

I have had that happen so many times with work that I literally have gigs that have never been posted.

though in my opinion you may wish to try and small light pointed at her face. nothing too bright...just to make abit of "pop" to it.

@lesbentley - I've led a rather sheltered life - Daleks and Dr. Who, oh my!

You could add that background as the map for image based lighting to make it look like she is in the scene- then a butterfly- or Dalek on the left-as if she is looking at it?

An aside: Sam. Daleks always remind me of Salt or Pepper shakers.

i have no clue what Daleks are lol thank you very much all for the suggestions. I'm still learning about what lighting looks good, etc. I had trouble finding something that didnt change her coloring too much or brighten her too much. I may have another go at it. THanks!

I am too late!  I would have voted for a sword and a temple, of course!

monkeycloud ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2013 at 2:31 AM · edited Mon, 15 April 2013 at 2:36 AM

The daleks just need to be reflected in her eyes ;)

Also, try a "rim" light on her... i.e. a spot or point light off the side and slightly further away from the camera from her, so that it just picks out an edge of her form... hope I've described what I mean in an understandable way!

Briefly, they are a mutated race of homicidal aliens who live in armoured casings (aka "Travel Machines") and go around wiping out "inferior races", ie, everyone who isn't a Dalek.

The link will tell you a lot more, should you be so inclined to follow it.  If, after that, you want to put some in a pic, you can search for my name in Freestuff and download several I've posted.

@ Eric - Yep, they've been referred to as pepper pots several times.  Also called "The Dustbins of Death".  My personal favourite is "Xenophobic, homicidal mutant squid in a tin can"  :)
