Subject: Reality 3 instalation problem

wolfmanjim ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2013 at 4:55 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 1:46 PM

I've installed reality 3 and luxrender as instructed.  For some reason, Poser says it can not laod R3.

I am using P9.  I have my Poser on my D drive.  Is that an issue?

Also I do not have Blender on my machine.  Would that affect luxrender, which I know you need for Reality.

Blender is not necessary, see the notes in the installation instructions.

Regarding the loading of the DLL, have you checked that everything is in the right location. Have you tried to launch the Reality.exe program? If so does it run?

If it does then it can be that you have a problem with your Python installation. Have you installed any other version of Python which might interfere with the one shipped with Poser?

All the best.

I also get this message...

Error in Reality.sceneDeleting(): 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'ReScene_newScene'
Exception in deleteObjects: Reality instance has no attribute 'callbackInstalled'
Exception in objectsDeleted()'NoneType' object has no attribute 'update'

Those happen because the DLL is not loaded. Once Reality is able to run those messages will not appear.

Cheers.

Reality runs when I click on it.

Where's the DLL?  How do I get it?

If Reality.exe runs then you have the DLL in the right place. The file is Reality_3.dll, which should be in the addons/Reality directory.

It's there.  Now what?

You might want to try to remove Reality ( delete the whole Reality subdirectory inside addons ) and try again, this time logged in as the Administrator of the machine. Other people reported this operation as being the solution.

Hope this helps.

I only have one login fom my comp, and it did not work.

You don't have Administrator rights for your computer? If so you might want to look into that. You need to look at the Microsoft technical support for that.

I've always had my login as the admin.

BTW, I want to thank you for your help.

Any other ideas?

wolfmanjim ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2013 at 6:19 PM

It seems my login is the admin (though not called it)

OK.

And you're very welcome :)

Unfortunately I'm a bit out of ideas at this point.

Let me see if I can find some information.

You might try forcing admin rights on your Poser executable and see if that changes. If not changes, also try force start with same technique on Reality.exe

Did you restart your PC after installation. A wild guess but it's sometimes the problem.

Pret-a-3D ( ) posted Wed, 17 April 2013 at 10:46 PM

Here is one possibility.

What version of of Reality did you install? 64 or 32 bit?
