Would you know how to make a light glow?

In Vue, if I want a light in the window to show that it is on (an evening scene for instance), I add a light, drag it into the cottage, house, building etc., fix the color, and intensity, then go on to whatever I am doing with the scene.  When I render, you can see the light coming through the window and it looks great.

In Poser, I can never get that look.  Please tell me what I am doing wrong.
