Perfect Fixes works for me. But, if you're still having problems, you can create a custom morph to fix it, then make that morph dependent on the x rotation of the thigh. That's easier to do in PP2012 because you don't need an editor to do it. I don't know about any other versions other than 6&7, in which you had to use something like CR2 editor to make custom morphs automagically into dependencies.
Weight Mapping is also an option. I haven't moved totally to WMV4, but have messed around with it a bit. It can be very nice, especially when combined with the ease of use of the standard joint Sphere and new "Capsule" deformation zones. Gonna have to play with that a bit to be able to comment on any of it intelligently, though... And doubtful, even then. ;)
*Note - On "Perfect Fixes" and custom figures - Be prepared for some heavy tweaking for best results. But, its certainly better than just leaving the standard V4 joint deformers and dependent morphs with a radical custom-morph character.
