Thank you... So it's exactly what I thought it was then. I've just always found it strange as the only other 3D program I know of that starts you with a default object is Sculptris (and that makes more sense given its limited scope). I'd wondered if it was a part of the GUI, was there for scale, was there in case I wanted to box model, or if there was merely a limitation in blender that prevented opening a completely empty scene. Suzanne would actually make more sense to me than a purple cube, as I'd likely still always be deleting either one.
If only Poser and blender played better together.
