heyas; i paint mine on in post in photoshop. on a new empty layer, i use white and the paintbrush to dab on some highlights, then use the smear tool to draw them out (and lessen their intensity), and then change the layer mode to one of the lighting modes, whichever looks best. (soft light, hard light, colour dodge, etc.) dalinise's look better than mine, though.
