"Poser [2014] includes a new Unimesh skinning method to support subdivision on figures with compliant geometry." - SmithMicro
Does that mean only the new figures included with P2014 are compatible with this feature? Not V4/M4? To put it another way - is this new feature absolutely useless for all my current models?
Yeah, I'd like to know that too?
I'm guessing that will be the case.
Here I go again, trying to do my textures over to match the new figures and still have it look like the same character.
I haven't always been successful in the past, but I'll try harder this time if there is a real reason to do so.

If you shoot a mime, do you need a silencer?

"Does that mean only the new figures included with P2014 are compatible with this feature? Not V4/M4? Some bodyparts (eyes) can cause stray vertices and have to be exempt from subdivision.
(See link)
The new skinning method works on MOST figures.
Unfortunately some figures (or clothing) do not support SubD.
V4 and Genesis are no problems. OK?
Anything can be set to Skinning method uNIMESH and SubD in Poser. But somtimes the figures are build in such a way that SubD will throw out points. The problems are in the object files, and NOT in the SubD calculation. => this has been tested.
You get 2 sliders to set the SubD levels.
1 slider for the preview, to keep preview load under control
a 2nd slider for the SubD at render time.
So you keep SubD at a lo level for the preview in the working window, and Poser reads the second slider at render time.
Remember; Each level increases the poly count by 4.
A 20.000 poly figure at level 1 becomes a 80.000 ply figure
At level 2 it becomes a 320.000 poly figure.
usually with V4, you can set to Unimesh and keep the preview slider at 0 and set the render slider at 1.
V4 being 70.000 times 4 = 280.000 poly
Roxie is 26.000 poly.
Set preview slider at 1 and render at 1 or 2.
1 is usually more then what you need.

Hi
I have to say that this snuck up on me, it seems like there was months of hype before Poser 9 came out.
Now all of a sudden there's Poser 10.
Maybe I just wan't paying attention.
Anyway I've been trying to find a side by side comparison that shows what you get in Pro the you don't get in Poser 10.
I don't usually go with the Pro version but I'm leaning that way this time, I wished that I had when I got 9 after a switched to a 64 bit OS.
So does anyone know of a location for one of those side by side charts that show what you get for the extra money.
I couldn't find a clear explanation of what's what on Smith Micros web site when I looked.
