This is my latest promo for Reality, using Poser Pro 2014, Reality 3.0.3 and LuxRender 1.2.
The notable thing is that I didn't tweak the skin materials at all. This is Danae's Lyon straight out of the box. The hair is Dragon Hair by Arki which includes the beautiful hair needles. I changed the materials for those to be Metal with the Gold preset. Polish is set at about 9600. The gems have been converted to architectural Glass. Some textures, like in this case, when used for glass, are a bit too dark. To lighten them a bit I changed the texture gain to 2.0 in the Reality Texture Editor (RTE).
The top is Light Mage by Alphaseed. The main cloth uses the Skin material because it give me the ability to dial in some metallic reflections via the Fresnel value, which I thing was set to 15% or 20%. To make this work you need to disable the SSS and deselect the material's volumes. This shows the flexibility of use the skin material for something else than skin. Remember to deselect the volumes for the material or it will not work.
Lighting is provided by four mesh lights. Two on the sides, one bigger than the other, one in the front of that character but dimmed down a lot, and finally one behind the window to show the stained glass. The window has been converted to archi glass and it is quite far away from the character so that it gets blurred by the DOF. I set the f-stop for DOF at f16 so that the character and the hair needles stay in sharp focus.
That's all that I remember, the render cooked for about 1810 spx.
